Survey
The Interdisciplinary Center of Materials Science (CMAT) is a central
institution of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg to promote
interdisciplinary cooperation between different science departments,
the Medical Faculty, and with institutes and companies outside the
university. The CMAT started to work in 1999.
Core competence
The acitivities are focused on nanostructured materials, micro- and
nanoanalytics, and the structure of imperfect solids. Technologically
important materials, such as polymers, ceramics, glasses,
semiconductors and nonconventional metals are dealt with. A special
activity is the research in the field of nanoimprint lithography.
Main emphasis of research and cooperation
Nanostructuring
High resolution materials characterization
